Education of seniors in U3V from the perspective of lecturers

The topic of this diploma thesis is the education of seniors within the universities of the third age at Charles University in Prague from the perspective of lecturers. The thesis deals with key aspects of this topic, from a theoretical and as well practical point of view. The main goal is to understand the process of senior`s education and how it is perceived by the lecturers. The thesis describes their acquired experiences, the possibilities of developing the education of seniors and the perceived barriers in the education of this population at U3A as part of lifelong learning. The theoretical part of the thesis serves as a basic framework for understanding the issue of education for seniors. It uses professional literature to define key terms and concepts. The attention is placed on the importance of lifelong learning for seniors and on the specifics of the educational process in this context. Other chapters are focused on the lecturers themselves in connection with the didactic process and psychodidactics. They deal with the personality of the lecturer, his role and his competences. The issue of professional competences of activation workers in homes for the elderly

The submitted dissertation deals with the issue of activation of seniors, or by analyzing and identifying the competences of activation workers of homes for the elderly. The goal of the work is to define the framework of educational and qualification requirements for an activation worker in homes for the elderly, when this worker is a fundamental employee influencing the sense of security, social involvement and quality of life of the elderly. The research was carried out in the form of qualitative research, based on grounded theory, using structured interviews with activation workers and senior staff of homes for the elderly in the Ústí Region. The topic of activation of seniors is current and socially significant, therefore it is necessary to pay professional attention to workers implementing activation programs and activities. Educational sciences, especially andragogy and gerontagogy, can be included among the key theoretical starting points. 1 ABSTRACT The topic of the thesis is the education of seniors within the U3V at Charles University from the point of view of lecturers. The thesis describes her acquired experience, possibilities and perceived barriers in the education of this population at U3V as part of lifelong learning. The work is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part defines the basic terms with the help of professional literature. It discusses the importance of learning for the elderly population and the specifics of this educational process. Other chapters are focused on the lecturers themselves in connection with the didactic process psychodidactics. They deal with the personalities of the lecturer, his role and his competences. Specifics of education and activation of seniors in residential facilities

The thesis deals with the issue of education and activation of seniors in residential facilities - homes for the elderly. In the theoretical part it deals with the quality of life of seniors, motivation for further education, intergenerational learning, the topic of aging and old age in the context of demographic, socio-political, health, cultural and legislative aspects. It is the demographic development of society that is a major impetus for change in the field of professional institutional care for the elderly. Specific integrative, counselling, therapeutic and rehabilitation approaches and conceptualisations of these topics are set within the framework of andragogy and gerontagogy. The research focuses on two target groups: on the one hand, the elderly themselves who have completed educational and activation programmes and on the professionals who implement or prepare (methodologically, managerially) these activities and activities. Possibilities of education and activation of seniors in social facilities

The diploma thesis is focused on mapping the possibilities and availability of education and activation of seniors in social services of selected social facilities in the South Moravian Region. The thesis monitors the offer of educational and activation programmes for the elderly in the South Moravian Region, especially in the Hodonín and Kyjov districts, their implementation and positive or negative impact on the elderly. In the theoretical part, I focus on the topic of old age, a very topical issue of ageing, the definition of essential educational and activation programmes and their importance and benefits, the quality of the programmes offered and the education and activation of seniors in the context of the applied science discipline. The Diploma thesis titled Educational needs of elderly and their motivation for education has been aimed to provide an analysis of the current needs, interests and motivation in the area of education of elderly and introduce this issue to the public. The theoretical part of the thesis provides a brief overview of the basic terms and findings related to the topic of seniors' education. It comprises a description of opportunities, specific features and aspects of the issue, including existing and potential barriers. Amongst other things, this chapter emphasises a society-wide significance of the seniors' education, considering, in particular, the recent demographic trends. The thesis outlines future challenges, difficulties and possible solutions associated with education of the respective social group. Further, the theoretical part focuses on the phenomenon of motivation. This rigorous thesis is entitled: Motivational Factors Influencing the Education of Seniors. The main goal of the rigorous thesis is to present the theoretical basis in the field of old age in the context of the senior age timeline with an emphasis on the senior education, didactic aspects and gerontagogy. The work is divided into a theoretical and an empirical part. The theoretical part defines the issue of old age from a multidisciplinary perspective. Furthermore, there is a section on lifelong learning (education) dealing with the education of seniors, followed by a section devoted to didactic aspects of senior education. The conclusion of the theoretical part focuses on the specifics occurring in the education of seniors. The empirical part of this work is based on the combination of quantitative and qualitative methodology. A questionnaire survey was used as a tool for data collection. The aim of the empirical research of this rigorous work is to identify the factors influencing the education of seniors in the city of Jihlava and to formulate conclusions and recommendations for the monitored area of senior education.
